Technical Experience
I'm Gary, the owner - a home based, one-man shop located in McKinney, TX. When you contact this business, you are visiting with me, the person that will actually be working on your items. I truly care about this business and have a passion for what I do. With over 35 years of sharpening experience, I've learned to sharpen, repair, and recondition edged blades to a perfect cutting edge.
The Sharpening Process
Knives are professionally sharpened on commercial equipment removing only as much metal as necessary. The apex of the edge is restored to the correct angle, and the new edge is then refined with a 1000-grit abrasive and honed with polishing compound on a felt belt.
Finally, the edge is polished on a leather strop, and the knife is then cleaned and sanitized.

Pick Up & Return
Free pick up and return delivery to residences within a 10-mile radius of McKinney is available. A 10-knife minimum is required for that service. There is no minimum requirement if you drop your knives off.

I do not sharpen salon shears, ceramic knives, CUTCO's serrated knives, Coolina brand knives, swords, daggers, straight razors, lawn mower blades, chain saws or saw blades.
I sharpen many everyday carry (EDC) knives – some I do not. I would be happy to discuss with you what you need. Feel free to contact me.
Pick Up & Return
Free pick up and return delivery to residences within a 10-mile radius of McKinney is available. A 10-knife minimum is required for that service. There is no minimum requirement if you drop your knives off.
A dropbox is also available onsite for those who prefer it. Special packaging isn't needed. Just roll your knives up in a towel, paper or plastic - include your name and phone number - a security camera alerts us immediately when you drop.
If you elect to use the dropbox, please do not ring the doorbell - it just triggers the dog who thinks she owns the place!
Dropbox Hours:
8AM - 8PM Monday - Friday
8AM - 1PM Saturday
Dropbox and Shop closed Sundays.

Typical turnaround time is 2-3 days. Contact me if you need something different; I'll see what I can do. I have several sets of loaner knives availble, if you need a set while I work on yours. Just ask.
Being a home-based business, I do not have an open counter/door. I operate by appointment only and therefore cannot accommodate drop-in visitors and/or clients.
Menu / Price List
Knives
Some of the sharpening prices - call or email for information on other blades you may have that need sharpening. I do sharpen some larger serrated edges. Finely serrated edges as on serrated steak knives, I do not. Minor repairs (broken tips, cutting edge chip out, reverse bows, high bolsters, etc.) if needed, are typically done at no additional charge. Homemade Knives, Etsy Knives and knives from South Asia - by quotation only. I must see those knives.

I do not sharpen pocket knives with severe recurves (karambits, hawksbills, etc.). Also, Serrated portions of pocket knives are too intricate for my equipment.
Fixed Blade Knives

I do not sharpen swords, daggers, Kukris, Trackers and most "Survival" knives or knives made from D2 steel.
Scissors
Effective immediately, we no longer sharpen common household scissors, sewing scissors, tailor's shears, upholstery shears or salon shears. The only shears we sharpen are standard kitchen/poultry shears common to kitchen cutlery sets.
